The Nazi and the Jew

Twice decorated with the Iron Cross, former SS soldier Hans Post dedicated his life to peace after witnessing the aftermath of the Dresden bombing in 1945. He later married Gina Behrens, an English Jew and a fellow peacenik. This documentary was 10 years in the making and published a year after Hans died.

The Crossdressers' Ball

Once a year a Sydney hotel hosts a 'Seahorse Ball' for straight men—fathers and husbands—who have always harboured a desire to cross-dress. This radio documentary recalls the privilege of seeing men seeing themselves as beautiful for the first time. It is the first time that any media was allowed to cover the ball.


A day in the life of ... Khaled Sabsabi

Michelle Moloney describes herself as the black sheep of her family. As an Aboriginal woman from the NSW South Coast, she is surrounded by a large and raucous family – almost 50 nephews and nieces. She only had one child, Shannon, but unlike many around her, she was determined that Shannon’s life would be different. He would graduate high school. He would have a life for himself. So when an opportunity came up for an indigenous scholarship to one of the country’s elite boarding schools, Knox Grammar in Sydney, she seized it with both hands and refused to let go. Shannon was the first from his community to go to Knox. Now, almost a year after he left, how did the experience change him? And how did it leave him the same?

What price justice?

The law, we believe, dispenses justice. If someone does something bad to you, the moral balance can be redressed through either seeing that person punished, or receiving some sort of compensation. But if you talk to people who’ve been the victims of terrible crimes, you find that justice doesn’t always mean the same thing from one individual to the next – and compensation is far from being the end of the story.
